All quiet, except for the talking

I know it’s been a bit quiet around here; sorry about that. A hell of a week last week for all sorts of reasons, least of all my continuing power cut / electricity supply problems, which usually affected my wifi.

In the meantime, if you’d like to hear Something What I Did, a new episode of Tagline: a movie podcast is online, with my brother and I talking (mostly) about The Incredible Hulk, Indy and other geeky movies. You can listen, subscribe, etc over at the Tagline site.

Speaking of podcasts, we’re really close to locking Episode 3 of the Official NCE ‘cast, too.

Win an Andrew Wildman PC!

Well, sort of.

In yesterday’s Daily Mirror – which as I understand is a ‘national newspaper’ here in the UK, with a ‘very high’ circulation – there was a competition to be found on page two, wherein readers could win a ‘one of a kind’ PC with a lovely drawing by Andrew Wildman on the side of none other than Back Alley Brawler. Which looks like this:

Yes, it’s an NCsoft-City of Heroes-Draw the World Together competition in a national paper. How’d you like them apples.

(Interesting timing, too, no? With a certain big-name, big-muscled superhero film releasing this weekend? Choice of Paragon City’s resident big-muscled brawler wasn’t a coincidence either.)

But how can you win this PC I hear you ask? Go foraging in bins for yesterday’s copy of the paper? Invent a time machine and go back a day just to buy the issue, and while you’re there, bet on whatever match happened last night in Euro 2008? You could do those things.

Or alternatively, you could just click here.

As well as winning a unique piece of Wildman art, you’ll also bag a new PC, crafted by our very own PC-crafting bods, who reliably assure me it’ll run ‘anything you can throw at it’ including all of our games.

Competition closes at noon on June 25th, and you only have to answer one question to win. Good luck!

FYI: the difference between ‘normal’ and ‘grumpy’

If you should ever meet me, and need to make a split-second decision on whether you need to bother me with that question right now:

Quick questions

A quick one in the possibly five minutes I have before my hosting goes offline again (was intermittent first thing this morning which led to another snarky email to their support; when I feel it’s steady enough to migrate, I’m migrating…). So, some questions for you… some community interaction, as they say:

  • This seems interesting (and fairly popular). Should we be doing something similar, or similar-but-different? I don’t use the ‘Royal We’ here, by the way…
  • Next show that we’ll be appearing at in the UK (right now) is Memorabilia in November, so we have some planning time. For those of you who’ve attended before and seen us (2006/2007), what should we do differently?
  • For those of you who haven’t been, what would you like to see there (or at other shows) that would make you come along? We don’t have the sky as our limit, but I’m open to all suggestions.
  • What’s your wishlist for future podcasts? We have ideas for Episodes 4 and 5, but beyond that….

That’ll do for now. Hopefully you’ll be able to reply…!

Down down, deeper and down

… did I just quote Status Quo? I think I may have.

My [expletives and general shouting deleted] hosting provider has had problems – again – for most of today, it seems. So apologies if you tried to get here and the site wasn’t available. It was their fault. Not mine. I didn’t really have a whole lot to say anyway.

I’m going to move hosts. I swear.
