20/09/08: Creative Concepts presents…

The soon-to-be-unemployed Creative Concepts team is very proud to present our swansong event… organised, as usual, with not nearly enough time.

Prepare for awesomeness!!!

(Image by Mat 'Snapshot' Keller. Who else??)

It’s on, baby!!!

To recap the entire day’s events in more detail and give you all the info you need…

(Optional) Activity One: Fiery Food UK

This weekend is the Fiery Food Festival in ol’ Brighton, which means a whole host of spicy, flavourful and downright delicious foods will be on display to be tasted, sampled, feasted upon and bought whole to take home. It’s completely free to come along, browse, and enjoy some great food.

Amanda and I have been going to this for the last few years and it’s always fun. So, assuming that it’s not peeing down with rain (and forecast suggests it won’t be) then we’ll be around and about The Old Steine, which is basically the bit of grass between the town centre and Kemptown, from around 10, 11am onwards.

I’d say “Here’s my mobile, come find us” but I won’t have a new mobile before tomorrow, and this is the internet, what do you think I am, some crazy fool who just gives out his mobile?

More details on the event are right here.

Activity Two: Tropic Thunder!!

We’ve been looking forward to this movie for months, and I’ll be damned if some ‘redundancy’ nonsense is going to stop me from seeing it!! So, please feel free to join us after a (probably hot ‘n’ spicy) lunch for the 3pm showing at the Odeon on West Street. (No West Street jokes, please.)

We’ve booked our tickets in the ‘standard’ seating area, so feel free to do so as well. Book either by visiting www.odeon.co.uk or calling 0871 22 44 007, or indeed just turning up on the day – just don’t blame us if they’re sold out….

Not heard of Tropic Thunder? Feel free to get more info on the movie… right here.

Activity Three: Drinking!! Eating!! Drinking some more!!

Movie should probably finish about 5pm or so, and that gives us more than enough time to saunter across town and head for Moksha Caffe, the (in)famous haunt where I spend more time than is probably healthy. But, all that coffee drinking is finally about to pay off, because the wonderful people there are ready to welcome us with open arms.

It's all gonna be GREAT.

What’s that you say? A cafe surely doesn’t serve sweet, sweet booze? WELL THIS ONE DOES… including fabulous caffeinated cocktails (which will be available in a 2-for-1 deal for part of the evening), beers, wines, that wonderful Kopparberg Pear Cider that I know I’ll be getting trashed on, and food as well!!

Seriously, they’re going to treat us right.

During the evening it’s quite possible all or none of the following may happen:

  • An impromptu quiz, with all questions focused on dead roleplaying game designers we have loved*
  • An auction on behalf of Draw the World Together (You better believe it – cash only, please!)
  • A Q&A session which will be notable for the amount of ‘Qs’ asked that get no ‘As’

It’ll be a cracker. If you come for one part of the evening, make it this one. Unless that is you’re a complete insomniac, in which case, HAVE I GOT AN EVENING ACTIVITY FOR YOU…

Activity Four: Gaming Until Your Eyes Fall Out

Yes, our old friends at Gamer Heaven (who have moved premises – this is very important to note if you went to the meet we did at the old Gamer Heaven in 2006…) have allowed us to host an all-night gaming lock-in!!

Starting at (about) 10pm, for just £10 entrance fee you can kick back, relax, and play games ALL NIGHT LONG on their LAN, enjoying some City of Heroes (maybe I’ll even do a Task Force!!), Guild Wars, or indeed Other Games from Other Companies. On top of that they have consoles – there may even be some (whisper it) Rock Band.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, by the way: if you’re looking for somewhere to spend the night in Brighton (admittedly, without a bed, but hey, those chairs are soft)… this is your best option.

Check out the Gamer Heaven site here.

That’s it! What more do you need to know?

Oh yeah: where everything is.

Enter Google Maps, baby! Click here for all the local info.

One last VERY important thing

TELL ME IF YOU’RE COMING. I need numbers, both for Moksha and for Gamer Heaven. (If we get enough, we might get the run of Moksha, which’d be nice.)

Either leave a comment below, or if you can’t comment for some reason, send me an email – details are on the Contact page.

Oh no wait, there was one more tiny thing

That image above? Available in LIMITED EDITION POSTER FORM (well, printed A4 sheets…) on Saturday night. We are that shameless!

SEE YOU THERE!!!

Stasis says I should reply with “kbjdvkj;gdrg”.

I think she’s a crazy person though – consider this confirmation for myself, Xanthus, Gangrel and (Crazy) Stasis. That’s FOUR nerds confirmed.

  2. #2 by Dr Toerag at September 18th, 2008

I’ll be there, probably bringing Hazel (Wild Red) as she now doesn’t have to worry about finding a hotel :-) .

  3. #3 by Gangrel at September 18th, 2008

*gets on the train down to Brighton*

What do you mean i cant leave until tomorrow?

  4. #4 by Shadowe at September 18th, 2008

    I.

    Will.

    Be.

    There.

And I’m planning on dragging Plasmarch’s sorry behind along, too. Gloucester to Brighton via Bristol. Sweet. Anyone needs a lift who will be on that route, give me a shout (CoH forum PM for preference), up to 3 spaces left in the car.

Only one question for you, Stephen: When I get there, where the heck should I park?

  5. #5 by Gangrel at September 18th, 2008

    Slowly the crowd gets bigger

  6. #6 by Rockjaw at September 18th, 2008

Updated Google Map with a bunch of parking choices.

As I don’t often park in Brighton I can’t suggest any that are better than the others. I will say though that if you’re willing to walk, parking somewhere along the seafront or in the back streets is do-able. You may just have to hunt for a while.

So lemme see – eight so far… we need more!!

  7. #7 by Gangrel at September 18th, 2008

I counted 9 if red is coming down….

Xanthus, Stasis, Extremus, Dr Toerag, Wild Red, Shadowe, Plasmarch, Ebon Hawk, Zoser, maybe Braindead and Dante as well?

    Oh and of course, ME!

  8. #8 by markltbaker at September 18th, 2008

Awesome event!! I’ve been looking forward to Tropic Thunder as well :-)

  9. #9 by markltbaker at September 18th, 2008

All booked up for myself Bea – see you there!

  10. #10 by Dante at September 18th, 2008

Saturday is the day of our big house warming so any absence of mine during the afternoon/early evening will probably be greeted with furious stares from the significant other followed by not being able to get back into the house for an undisclosed period of time. Sooooo…..

I expect I won’t be able to make the majority of the day unfortunately however I will do my damndest to be available for at least a portion of the all night gaming at Gamer Heaven (by which time you’ll probably all be lashed and I’ll be the only one sober). As long as they don’t slam and lock the door at 10pm sharp, I’ll try to get down there for then.

  11. #11 by Gangrel at September 18th, 2008

Dante, Screw the house party, just bring the party along with you :D

  12. #12 by Storm at September 18th, 2008

I should/most likely be coming to bug extremus with my dumbness. Maybe we a tag along ….wanna be nerd they are!

  13. #13 by Extremus at September 18th, 2008

There’s 1 attendee for you to know about.

    Which you now do!

  14. #14 by Dante at September 18th, 2008

Gangrel, I’m having fun just imagining 30 unruly hippies, druids and pagans descending on the NCSoft goodbye party and it makes me laugh. Unlikely though but I’ll get away as soon as I can. Kind of hard to sneak away when it’s your own party. :)

  15. #15 by Dr Toerag at September 19th, 2008

No problem with a lift back on the Sunday as far as Birmingham, Gangrel. We’ll sort it when we’re down there.

  16. #16 by Shuttler at September 19th, 2008

Gutted I can’t make this, thanks for the invite and have fun. I hope to see photos and such.

Any micro blogging feeds for the amusement of those of us who cant make it? I love drunk blog posts.

  17. #17 by Shadowe at September 19th, 2008

Shuttler – don’t know about Stephen, or anyone else, but I can access my Twitter feed via my phone, and may be able to persuade Stephen to access his, too, so I think you can expect the odd update here and there.

  18. #18 by Rockjaw at September 19th, 2008

Shuttler, lovely image of you keeping your eyes peeled for drunken txt, tweets and blogs…

I should probably have mentioned earlier that the lovely Moksha Caffe has FREE WI-FI, so I expect there may be a few people Twittering. I shall encourage it.

I got my new phone yesterday so I might tweet on occasion, but honestly, as it’s a ‘normal’ phone not a QWERTY keyboarded thing (like the old Blackberry) anything takes about five times as long to send as I re-learn old predictive text ways.

  19. #19 by Geoffrey at September 19th, 2008

I would love to pop down and enjoy in the fun but I’m dressing up as Superman for a night out on the booze instead

    So have fun everyone ^_^

  20. #20 by Shuttler at September 19th, 2008

Drop your twitter names in here so I can follow from the comfort of my armchair!

  21. #21 by Shuttler at September 19th, 2008

You know I’m starting to think I could make this, with some wangling!

  22. #22 by Elendar at September 19th, 2008

Will be there for the drinking, probably won’t be able to make it in time for the film

  23. #23 by Shadowe at September 19th, 2008

Hehehe. Well, Stephen is Rockjaw, and I am on there as Chemlak. Don’t expect much if you go and look at mine now, though!

And if there’s a chance you can make it, Shuttler, then wangle!

  24. #24 by Wild Red at September 20th, 2008

I would have loved to have been there but I am not very well.

Have fun everyone, I’m sure you will have a great time and a day filled with awesomeness :D
