Things of a busy nature

Eh, the delay between updates here is a little annoying to me. It’s annoying partially because I feel like I should update on a regular basis, but also because I know, in part, that I can’t update because I can’t tell you everything I’m doing – so even when I do say something, I might not be able to say everything. Sorry.

I’ve been busy, if that much isn’t obvious by the silence.

Here’s what I’d call a ‘non-spoiler’ update though, for those who are interested.

There’s a lot going work wise, and not just because Eurogamer Expo is a week away (for me) and I still have another job that I’m holding down at the same time. In regards to the Expo, this is what we’ve spent the last two weeks struggling to finalise – our floorplan:

If you’ve been paying attention, and seen the gradual reveal of the various titles we’re showing, you might think we’re being very clever in our slow release of hype. Truth is we had to wait for ages to get certain publishers to confirm… but hey, in the end, the wait will have been worth it. I think it’s fair to say we have just about every big console release that’s coming later this year, so if you’re able to come, I’d say… do! Tickets are still on-sale at the official Expo site.

My other gig – at a web agency here in Brighton – is going just fine, but annoyingly because of some issues with the client we’ve been working with, the site we created for them hasn’t launched yet. It’s particularly annoying because we had a week-by-week plan worked out and now that’s gone out the window. Anyway hopefully that will resolve itself, and when it does, I’ll point you in the right direction.

There’s other work related stuff. Lot of stuff. I just can’t talk about most of it. We’ll see what resolves, and if it does, I’ll be sure to holler about it here….

Outside of work? Well, Spore still engages on occasion, but I’m pretty certain that once I ‘finish’ the space stage (eg, annihilate the Grox and find the centre of the galaxy – where I’m pretty sure Will Wright’s giant floating head will be) I won’t be back to play it again. There are rumours that there’s going to be a patch to add more gameplay, but honestly given that the first expansion is supposed to be more creature parts, I don’t think I’m the intended audience.

On the Xbox, after Call of Duty I’ve found myself back playing GTA IV again, and while I’d hesitate to call it a brand new game, playing it on my PC monitor does give me nice, crisp visuals; and the fact that I’m sitting about two foot from it enhances my appreciation of the ‘look’. I’ve unlocked the final island too, and the plot’s picked up some, so enjoying that.

What else…? Oh loads of stuff, but frankly I’ve got to get to work. I’ll be back though.
