Quest for GC: Behind the Scenes, Part 4

This post, in case anyone’s confused, was started on 27th August – long after the last episode was released. So excuse me while I excavate my memory to talk about the filming of episodes 7 and 8…. Read the rest of this entry »

Quest for GC: Behind the Scenes, Part 3

Now this is where it gets complicated. Why? Because we started to shoot out of sequence, that’s why…

Episode 5: Looking forward to…

This was supposed to be an easy episode. In fact, it was supposed to be the throwaway, edited quickly, filler episode between other episodes – hell, it was practically supposed to be a clip show. (Hmm. Could I do a clip show? Very possibly….)

Brief was simple; loads of people who are going to the Games Convention telling us what they’re most looking forward to. In one word. Or one sentence. Or one paragraph just please don’t monopolise the camera as there are others who need to be part of this thing thank you.

I was a guest of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology, who had organised MMOG-fest 2008 to celebrate the launch of their new degree in Multiplayer Online Games Design.

I was attending primarily as a speaker, but also went to sell some games and just generally meet and greet with students and staff. Overall, I had a great time and I’m really glad I did go. Hopefully I managed to tell a few people things they might find useful, as well.

I fully intend (when I’m really happy with it, and that might be a while) to put some sort of summary of my talk on here. For now though, here’s just a few random thoughts about the event, students, and that tough nut they all want to crack: getting a first job in games. Read the rest of this entry »
