Friday feelings

Oooh, touchy feely feelings.

Alright, I’m not going to induce a gag reflex – at least I hope not. I could, but I won’t. Suffice to say since Wednesday at 2:30pm or so, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster, or emo-coaster as I had to abbreviate for the benefit of Twitter. Read the rest of this entry »

UK Games Expo 2008… in one post

Yes, so this is three months late. It’s been written in fits and starts. When (if) you get to the end, you might understand a little about the delay. Enjoy.

Let’s start with a quick recap of…

Friday 30th May

Just two weeks after our last VanQuest we were off again, feeling a distinct sense of déja vu as we assembled at the car hire place, packed the van and ended up at Oxford Services for lunch. I find it slightly worrying that I’ve considered – twice – getting a ‘Frequent Customer’ card at the coffee place there.

A series of unexplained slowdowns on the M25 delayed us a bit, but apart from that we made good time, pulling into the Clarendon Suites’ car park before 5pm. Then it was a quick and easy unload, followed by a stress-free setup, the only slight kink being that we had to ‘haXX0r’ the wifi password for the venue.

The fact that we could hack it sort of speaks volumes… Read the rest of this entry »

Artifacts from GC

Off today. And tomorrow. And Saturday. And Sunday.

The last two might not seem that surprising, but believe me, it’s a strange feeling to have nothing particular on, that I absolutely must do… for four days straight.

Anyway, pawing through my bag this morning I found a couple of GC-related artifacts that I thought I’d share, for no particular reason: Read the rest of this entry »

Three GC pics of, well, me (and others)

Before I forget, a few pics that ended up on Flickr…

Images by Mat, of course. A few more (just a few!!) are on the official Flickr feed for us.

Hey ho, let’s go

Back to work today. Wouldn’t be able to make it without you-know-what in you-know-where though.

Ah, that Moksha brew

Mmmm. Slept like the dead last night, as you might imagine, after having to stay awake an extra hour when I realised my MacBook was still set on German time – and that in fact it was an hour earlier than I thought. When I finally did hit the pillow I was out like a light. Anyone would think I was jetlagged. I guess it’s more like showlag. Better this morning, but it’ll take a few days to get back up to speed I expect.

Anyway! A heads-up here. First of all the first in a series of ‘behind the scenes’ posts is coming today regarding Quest for GC. Part One will magically appear this afternoon about 2pm. Second part in a couple of days, and so on. Should end up being five or so parts. I warn you in advance, the timeline on these is a bit screwed. I started writing them a month ago, trying to keep up with myself as we made the series, but then everything got too busy… so you’ll see the first three parts are sort-of contemporaneous and then the following three will probably be retrospective. You’ll get it….

What else do we have coming? Well, I need to finish off my post regarding the Aion casting process, which really more encapsulates casting as a whole. I also have (believe it or not) a near-finished recounting of the UK Games Expo (from back in June!). Last but not least on the video front I’ve actually been editing videos for Bristol Comics Expo (May!!) and I may also do one for the Games Expo, too. I know, we’re a bit late. This is what Leipzig does. It eats everything in its path.

Speaking of Leipzig, I’m not going to attempt to talk in detail about the show as it’d take way too long. I will probably work on some sort of summary post I guess. Main thing is, I survived.

So, what’s next?
